How Do I Get Certified?
Should you wish to join the Squad, VTAS will cerify you in Basic First Aid and CPR at no cost to you. All volunteer ambulance squad members have the option to become certified as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) through the State of New Jersey, which is paid full by the State of New Jersey when you are a member of an ambulance squad. VTAS encourages all members to become cerified as an EMT.
Most EMT-B courses are offered at area hospitals and are approximately four months in length, two evenings a week.
VTAS will give you EVERYTHING you need to get started with us, at no cost to you!
