Vernon Township Ambulance Squad

Home: Health and Safety : Never Move Patients

· Never move injured patients.

From Training Officer Rich Carson:

In the event you are faced with a situation where someone is seriously injured, call 911 immediately and be sure to provide as much information as possible to the dispatcher.

Next return to the patient and cover them with a blanket and prevent unnecessary movement. If bleeding is present apply firm, direct pressure over the wound. Most times this is all that is needed to stop the bleeding.

Await arrival of the police and the Vernon Ambulance Squad.

The above is general informational guidelines and not to be substituted for professional care. If you feel that you have encountered a serious injury or are not sure what to do, always call 911 for assistance.
